PRESS: Russian airlines operations at risk from servers’ transfer
MOSCOW, Oct 22 (PRIME) -- Largest Russian airlines can stop working on the back of the Transport Ministry’s plans to move ticket booking and flight registration servers to Russia, Vedomosti business daily reported on Monday citing a letter of Siberia Airlines CEO Vladimir Obyedkov to director of the Air Transport Operators Association Vladimir Tasun sent in July.
The ministry earlier prepared requirements to a new Russian online booking system which are proposed for introduction from January 1, 2020.
According to Vedomosti, Russian flagship carrier Aeroflot, S7 Group, comprising Siberian Airlines and Globus, and UTair cooperate with foreign providers while almost all other local air carriers base their work on the domestic Sirena Travel system. Russian providers do not meet the requirements of the air companies, Obyedkov said.
Aeroflot and S7 are also participants of multinational aviation alliances, and Russian systems are unable to ensure seamless operations within the systems, the daily reported.
